A garden is a lovely place that draws all humans towards it, it plays a prominent role in the life of a human , and a garden plays a big event as a part of setting for many religions The Christians believe that humanity was begun in a garden and the son of God rose from a garden. The Buddhist created gardens for nature to penetrate into their environments.
All monuments and government office have a garden around them. A garden is just a group of plants.

The reason for growing food in gardens is quite obvious as everyone loves to eat yields from the garden, and can avoid fat foods and live on foods from your garden and this is reasonable. But there are people who grow flower garden just for the pleasant look it gives and with not much benefit other than having a bunch of those lovely flowers. Finally after a lot of thinking and being prompted to plant decorative gardens I have believed that there are a lot of theories behind this.

The main reason why people are so much attracted to gardens is a basic love we all have towards nature like we aspire to progress and industrialize. In the midst of our hectic life and modernism we still desire to create a garden in any possible way as it gives comfort, total happiness and liveliness within us when we are amidst a green garden. We feel relaxed and calm when we meditate or do tai chi exercises and a place to reconcile from the overcrowded world.

It is also a guilty feeling within us that arouses us to create a garden as we have destroyed so much of nature for our necessity in this modern world. So just to compensate this we build tiny gardens to commemorate the trees destroyed. This is my theory which makes people to have gardening as a hobby too.

Gardening is no doubt a healthy exercise and do not misunderstand me. Any hobby that gives a good physical exercise, does no harm to the environment, and develops your diet is a positive act. So one need not worry about the basic theories that arouse gardening and everyone should develop this hobby. Gardening surely helps problems relating to obesity and pollution especially in the USA, and I feel gardening is the only option to restore this state of the world.

Although, I am not a psychologist and just a inquisitive gardener, I wonder many times what makes me do gardening with my tools few hours each day to help the plants grow knowing that they would naturally themselves, In my case my ignorance is extreme happiness that I derive from doing so.

In order to make a garden even out of a small piece of land, it is important that you use the appropriate gardening tools. Certain gardening tools are very important for you to start gardening in an appropriate manner. They are a sharp spade to dig the soil efficiently, a garden fork to break the hard soil, a shovel to make holes in the ground, as well as a level-head rake to break down the surface.

A Very Effective Gardening Tool – The Trowel

A very efficient and an important tool that is required is the trowel that is used for the basic work such as minor digging, whereas a garden hoe and a scuffle hoe is used in the avoidance of the growth of weeds. A long-handle and a shore-handle cultivator are helpful when it comes to loosening the soil and keeping it in a friable state. The other very important gardening tools include the long garden hose that consists of an adjustable nozzle as well as a garden line that is used to make straight rows.

A rotary tiller is a very efficient gardening tool that is used when your intention is a large garden that is used in deep cultivation and all this can be easily achieved using this gardening tool with very little effort. The other important gardening tool is the wheelbarrow, which is very useful along with a light roller. Certain added gardening tools that will come in handy for all those gardeners out there is the crowbar that is used in lifting rocks of varied sizes as well as a mattock/pick that is useful in breaking hard and solid surfaces.

The Details That You Must Pay Attention to While Buying Gardening Tools

When you start purchasing gardening tools make sure you look into the cheaper ones at first, and when you have learnt gardening and have become an expert at it, then you can go ahead and buy the costlier gardening tools. Prior to purchasing gardening tools you must make sure that you have held them to see if they suit your hands and are well balanced. The other detail that you must pay attention to is that the handle should and must be properly fixed to the gardening tool because only then it will be prove to be good.

Most of the children are very interested in gardening and we must encourage them by buying them suitable childrens gardening tools, and the obvious details that you must look into while buying such tools would be to avoid purchasing very heavy and big tools. You must make sure the tools you purchase are light and small that would suit your childs small hands.

Gardening can lead to gloabal warming as cultivation of the soil leads to release of carbon dioxide and many people do not know this. The tilling and pressing the soil, spoils the good fungi, and leading to the penetrating of fertilizers like nitrogen and manure out of the soil which in turn pollutes the drinking water.

Global warming

Another important fact which many of us are not aware is that the pill bugs, microbes, fungi and worms exhale about 10 times more carbon dioxide than humans do when they inhale, digest food and expire. Earlier the plants had the capacity to absorb carbon dioxide from the cultivated land, but not in the present times.

The rise in the temperature of the globe is averagely due to the carbon dioxide released when cultivating the soil. The only good news is that cultivating can be reduced by covering or sheet collection of organic debris.

Good Fungi

VAM that is the vesicular- arbuscular- mycorrhizae is the beneficial fungi present in the uncultivated soil which is has a depending relationship with the plants. The root hairs are increased a by their filaments and supply essential nutrients to the plant. They release Zinc, copper, potassium and phosperous, and plants provide the fungi with carbohydrates in return. A garden can be grown without cultivating the soil much by covering heavily the soil till it becomes soft and crumbly.

Surpus Nitrogen

There are many people who waste manures and gardening while gardening. Whereas the farmers do the reverse, they require only a quarter to one third of nitrogen to add with an inch of organic debris, horse or cow manure. For growing lettuce and sweet corns, Kate Burroughs of Sebastopol California used this method. Only a very small quantity is required in the case of broccoli and pear trees by farmers. So, there is wastage of money and fertilizers, when gardeners use large amount of compost and manure when compared to farmers.

Trying to avoid excess of anything in case of gardening is the best advice that can be given. Anything in excess or deficit is not a healthy habit and this applies in the case of gardening too.

A hand held garden tool can get very expensive. So, you must make sure you take proper care of it so that it lasts for longer periods of time. Taking care of your tool will not rob much time of you. The following part of this article lists out the various ways in which you can take care of your hand held garden tool.

Cleaning is the First Step to Taking Care

The first step to taking care of your hand held garden tool is to keep it clean. After you use your tool, make sure you rinse them properly each time to keep them clean. Despite having a stainless steel trowel or a digger, it will do well if you dry the tool after each rinse to prevent from rusting.

After a season, make sure you wash your tools with dish soap, dry them properly, and then store them appropriately in the winter season. By doing all of the above, you are in turn making sure that your tools last till the next season.

Handling Repairs is One of the Steps to Taking Care

Avoiding dents and repairing the existing dents on your hand held garden tool is the most common repair. Suppose your hand trowel has some dents, you can repair it by slightly tapping out the indentation with the help of a hammer. When doing so, you can cover your tool with a piece of cloth so that it does not get marked and scratched by the hammer.

The hand forged garden tool is another common issue wherein the handle of the tool gets loose. In such cases you will have to change the tool and replace the existing one. Nevertheless, when you spend a little extra on your tools and get the ones that are of good quality, then this problem will not occur.

The Last Step to Taking Care of Your Tools Sharpening

Any hand held garden tools and trowels have to be sharpened appropriately in order to perform well. Trowels and spades can be sharpened by putting them in a bucket filled with coarse sand and rust remover, and keep moving the tools upwards and downwards so that the sand sharpens the sides of the tools. Suppose you notice your tools have got rusted, then the ideal thing to do would be to leave the tools for a longer period of time in the rust remover.

Pruning clippers are sharpened with the help of a tone or a file, which is the other alternative to sharpening the tools. Suppose you are using your hand held garden tools on a regular basis, then you will need to sharpen them once or twice in the entire season to maintain them in a good condition. Before storing them during the winter season it is sensible for you to sharpen them.

When you care for your hand held garden tool, then it will last for a longer period of time. The time that you take to clean, repair, and sharpen will pay off when your tools provide the best results and last for longer periods of time.

The wild thing that can cause damage to the plant is the weather, and there are a number of gardens that have been swept out overnight due to this and there can be nothing much done to fight against these acts of nature as they also play an important role for the growth of the lovely plants too. But it is a pity to face the dangerous hailstorms that destroys every plant we have tended with so much care and affection spending some much of our time also.

As we see the rains we are overjoyed about the fact we do not have to water the plants as the rains are the best element to quench the thirsty plants. But as these drops of rains turn into tiny globules of ice there is an emotional feeling and I have undergone this feeling when I was a blooming gardener and my garden was totally destroyed in 10 minutes of severe hail.

So, now that I had learnt the evil effect of a hail, I had an option to overcome it. I started to keep big clay pots within 10 feet of my garden and whenever there was a sign of hail I would run and shelter the plants immediately within no time. This avoided me from watching my plants being destroyed on different occurrences. I have never witnessed hail more than an inch in diameter, but if it had occurred in baseball sized lumps the pots arranged surely would have been destroyed too.

But, when the number of delicate plants in my garden spread it is impossible to have a pot for each one of them and run out to keep each one of the pots before any damage has already taken place. So, after a lot of thinking I decided to build a horizontal, retractable screen method of strong but flexible wire mesh which could be pulled out over the total garden area for immediate protection when there was a sign of rain. This stopped the rain from falling through and also collected the hail which dripped slowly till the next day. This project was an expensive one costing many hundred dollars, my blood, sweat and tears that is immeasurable. So I cannot advice this method to all gardeners.

It is unfortunate that if our loving plants are lost due to the balls of ice and cannot be replaced much. You can just tender them with care and try to bring them back over a long time and it is a doubt if they will survive after the hail for several weeks. If you there is a forecast of more rain or wind they should be kept covered as even drops of rains or a strong wind could damage them at this delicate stage.

Hence, if the place where you reside is prone to regular hail, you should surely have some emergency plan to safeguard your plants against it as just watching them being destroyed helplessly is not a good idea.

The first step in the guide to organic gardening is to understand and learn the fundamentals very well. The first thing you should to is to decide on where you are planning to have your garden, as certain plants require plenty of sunlight and certain other plants need a mixture of sunlight and dimness as well.

If the plants you are planting require a lot of sunlight, look for an area in the garden that would at least eight hours of sunlight.

So, in short the place where you are planning to setup your garden solely depends on the plants you are planning to grow and the amount of sunlight available in that particular area. Since many plants and crops require a lot of water frequently, a water connection through a hose or sprinkler close by would become very important.

You should go from small baby steps and then start planning on big things, so do not plant more than two crops when you start gardening. The fundamental in the guide to organic gardening is to start by planting not more than two crops.

Despite the large area that you have, just use a small portion of that area to plant the crops and you will be astonished by the end of it when there will be a large produce in just about 10 square feet of that area. Do some amount of research on the crops that you can plant, and start by planting crops that do not require a lot of care.

The most vital part in the guide to organic gardening is to ready the plot for the purpose of planting. Most of the time autumn has proved to be the best time to plant the crops over winter as you can take care of the plants during this season.

Suppose you are having an idea of making your organic garden in a place that comes as a part of your lawn then you must remove the top soil using a shovel and in turn make the earth go upside down. If you plant your crops over grass, you are allowing the grass to decay in the soil thus giving out the most essential nutrients.

However, if you are planning on planting in an area with a lot of weed, you must ensure that you pluck out the entire weed along with its root and seed as there are chances of it growing back and spoiling your garden.

The last step in the guide to organic gardening includes monitoring and looking into the kind of soil in your area. When you find a complete guide to organic gardening, you will come across ways to see the kind of soil you have in your area, and the ways to make it get ready to begin planting.

You should note down that the plants require a particular kind of soil and will only grow in that particular soil. So, crops that require sandy kind of soil or loamy earthy soil will not grow on normal soil despite the care and the time you take to prepare for its plantation.

If you follow all these fundamentals in the guide to organic gardening, you can be sure you are heading the right way when it comes to gardening and you will definitely not face any problems in the future.

You must know how to store the garden tools appropriately and it is as vital as buying the right garden tools are. Unless you store your garden tools in the right manner, it may not last for many seasons and there are chances of it wearing away and even getting rusted. On a brighter note, there are no techniques as such to store your garden tools.

Purchasing a Good Quality Tools is Very Vital

Appropriate garden tool storage can be affected by purchasing good quality garden tools and the other thing that you have to be aware of is the main rival of garden tools. These rivals include harm from moisture as well as rust. The tools must be maintained appropriately in order to use them for a long time.

Prior to storing the garden tools, you must make sure that you remove all the mud and dirt from the tools, and this can be done with the help of a stick or wire brushes. In some cases, when there is cake soil on your tools, you might have to soak it in water and then scrape out the soil.

The tools must then be dried completely using some old rags and it must be allowed to dry totally. When your garden tools get rusted, make sure you rub them thoroughly using steel wool and wear gloves while doing this. Make sure that the sharpness of all your garden tools is maintained and a file can be used for this purpose.

The wooden handles must be conditioned prior to storing the garden tools, and rubbing sandpaper can do this and then wax can be applied to the handles. Lubricating penetrating oils are sprayed on the metal parts of the tools to avoid rusting. The last detail that you have to pay heed to is that you must store your garden tools in dry places and avoid placing them in the garage floors or any place where it will likely dampen during the winter season.

The garden tool sharpener is necessary for all gardeners irrespective of the fact if they are new to gardening or if they are experts in the field. Almost keep in mind that sharpening a garden tool is not similar to sharpening kitchen knives and so you must be very careful about the sharpener you use and the way you use it.

There is nothing much to be concerned regarding the taking care of plants in the house, and only a few points are to be kept in mind for this.

1. Watering
The plants should not be watered in plenty, although they look dry sometimes, as it can be misleading too, so, just insert your index finger into the soil and find if it is damp or really need watering.

2. Feeding
The nitrogen requirement for leafy plants is more, whereas for the flower yielding plants, K2O is required. Fertilizers that are released gradually into the soil can be mixed with the compost. But, plants like cacti and orchids need fertilizers that are special. Plants are to be fed when they are in the most active period of growth.

3. Lighting
There are plants which need no sunlight to grow like the Sanseveria and Aspidistra and can be kept far off from the windows. Plants that require a semi-shade are Spider plants. A look into the label helps us to determine which plant can be placed near a window according to their requirement of sunlight.

4. Temperature
Plants kept in the house can withstand both cold and hot temperatures, but they cannot withstand extremes of temperature, they also cannot live in gas heating. So, it is not advisable to keep a plant that grows in hot temperatures near an air-conditioner during the summer season.

5. Humidity
Humid climate is necessary for some house plants, a simple method to increase the humidity is to place a pot inside a big pot and fill the space between the two with stones or compost to retain the moisture. Microclimate can be done by keeping a group of plants together. Water spray can be done once or twice a day depending on the temperature.

6. Repotting
To get the best results some plants are to be re-potted but there are some whose roots are disturbed when re-potted, or they do not need this treatment at ll. The pots can be turned upside down to check the roots and if they are only roots all around they need re-potting. In some plants the roots make their way out of the pot and then they should be cut or re-potted.

A little care of the plants help you better yields and enjoy the benefits. Plants kept indoor look beautiful and lively. They also give great pleasure to one who has worked on it.
